Thirty-five years! Holy mackerel. That's a long time. What were you doing in 1984? Wearing neon colors & using entirely way too much hairspray? I sure was. Luckily, Ray was thinking ahead and decided to go into business for himself. And here we are, all these decades later, still here, happily entrenched in the Marquette scene. It's been a group effort - you, us, and all the great authors who keep us informed and entertained. Take out any one of these & this place wouldn't exist. This party is our way of saying thanks for keeping us around all these years. Stop in on Saturday June 15th - there will be drawings, giveaways for the kids, snacks... and the taco truck (Dia del los Tacos) will be outside for a while, too.
UPDATE: Wow. Just wow. We are so grateful and humbled by the turnout for the celebration. We had a flood of familiar faces, and a tidal wave of new ones. Kind of like our store: classics and new releases.
Here's what you missed:
- Prize Island (thanks to all our publisher sales reps!)
- A Wedding Photo Shoot
- Sidewalk Art
- Tacos (thanks to Mike & Christine from Dia de losTacos!)
- SB Tote Bag Debut
- Stickers, pins, and tattoos for the kids
- Wall to Wall Book Junkies
- A One-of-a-kind Custom Cake from Huron Mountain Bread Co.
And a big congrats to our prize winners: Melody, Abbie and Lex.
Melody was the grand prize winner, and she chose Ishpeming Public Library as her winning partner. Each got a $175 gift card. Abbie won a $35 gift card and a new SB tote bag filled with swag. Lex won a $35 gift card.
We're already planning for our 40th - I'm not quite sure how we're going to top this one. Again, thank you. Without you, we wouldn't be here. Here's to the next 35.
