APRIL 12 - 6:00 p.m.
Daniel Wolff, author of Grown-Up Anger is coming to Marquette April 12 and we're throwing a little party. His book draws a throughline from the 1913 Calumet Massacre to Woody Guthrie to Bob Dylan, and drew national attention to this seminal UP event. If that weren't cool enough, he's bringing Ann Arbor musician Chris Buhalis to help celebrate the great American folk tradition, in the spirit of Woody and Bob themselves.
Through years of listening to Guthrie and Dylan, Wolff found a common thread: a nod to the Calumet massacre, a key moment in US labor history. Being a good journalist-historian, Wolff started digging. His journey took him throughout the northern Midwest, exploring its myths, its labor, its legacies. And what he produced was a page-turning account of a little known event with big historical significance (but Yoopers already knew that). Help us give him a big welcome.
